OVER 52 YEARS OF TUMAC’S COVERS
In 1958 Elmer “Mac” McCall and Larry “Mac” McGovern got together and started a canvas
company called Tumac's Covers in Pleasant Hills, PA.
At the time they made a lot of different canvas products, steel and construction tarps, laundry supplies and house awnings.
They also started doing something that no one else was doing in Western Pennsylvania, making canvas for boats.
As boating grew in Pittsburgh and the rivers got cleaner Tumacs focus on boat covers grew as well.
By 1976 when Larry McGovern retired Tumacs was fully a Boat Cover Company.
Although much has changed in 52 years something’s remain the same, Elmer McCall still arrives at work everyday.
At 88 years young, he often leaves early, not for a nap but, for a tennis game and maybe a beer.
The company is now run by Elmer’s son Bob McCall.
In 2006 we opened a second location in Elkhart, IN and currently ship all over the US & Canada.
Even though we have grown and expanded,
we are still family owned and operated and customers are still our #1 priority.
